WEEK 9 WRAPUP

Week 9 wraps up the last full week of division crossover matchups with the Lombardi Division taking the matchups 4-1. Dah Commish's King Veer was the only Lombardi loser, dropping a close match to Goff's Serkus.

Did Week 9 give the Lombardis a heavy advantage over the Shulas? No. Actually, the Shulas lead the crossover season series 11-10. The races are equally tight with no one really running away with any race. Quags' 16 points easily marks a season-low for the Shula Division leaders.

WEEK 7 WRAPUP

The first meeting of the intra-Miazga family battle between Brawlers' Kris Herigodt and Eggers' Mike Miazga went to Kris, 50-41. Wife and husband meet again in Week 13.

Veer owner Dah Commish hammered 77 Finks points in Week 7, which has to be some kind of Shakespeare franchise record or at least the biggest total I can remember in recent history. Veer received a combined 48 points from RBs S. Jackson STL and White TEN.

Week 8 features a battle between division leaders with the Sharks and Quags. This will be their only meeting of the season.

WEEK 6 WRAPUP

Don't be fooled by the records for the Matchup of the Week: Week 7. It's the first-ever Finks League matchup between husband and wife when veteran Eggers owner Mike Miazga meets rookie Brawlers owner Kris Herigodt. I wonder how that breakfast goes over Monday morning if they don't tie. It's the first of two meetings this season since they randomly were assigned different divsions.

The Brawlers are hurting with the temporarily loss of QB Romo DAL. The Eggers are last in the league in points scored.

I HATE MY TEAM. JUST HATE, HATE, HATE IT.

After 14 years of running a team in the Finks League, you'd think I'd get it straight in Year 15. Not a chance. This King Veer team stinks. It stinks like rotten fish, or maybe even my daughter's hamster cage. Throw in my 2-year-old son's diaper after he's had fruit. Whatever, it stinks.

After five weeks, I'm No. 2 in fewest points (thanks Eggers). I have identical QBs that I don't know who to use week-by-week: Rivers (49 Finks points), E. Manning (42). I released RB Grant GB because he has the same bye week as RB Young DEN, but since Young is injured for Week 6, I picked up Grant again. Grant only has SIX Finks points this season. I've gone loco.

My No. 1 auction RB, S. Jackson STL (14), is a near bust. My No. 1 auction TE/WR Winslow CLE (6), is a bust and I released him in Week 6. My leading RB, White TEN (30), doesn't even have any bonus points yet. Yikes.

Did I mention that I have identical PKs? Scobee JAX (52) and Crosby GB (46). I don't know who to use.

Will I be able to make it through the season?

WEEK 4 WRAPUP
Jeezus Christ. Sharks owner DJ Wanberg blows off Favre's bye week and neglects to pick up a backup QB. So his five-man lineup blasts my hapless Veer squad, 47-21, with help from two RB Bush punt returns. What an embarrassment. Veer owner Dah Commish wishes to apologize to all five our Shakespeare team fans.

WEEK 3 WRAPUP

Things should get interesting now that the NFL enters the byes in Week 4. There are six teams on the bye. Make sure your favorite players are not playing.

Week 4 features a few cool matchups between the Sharks (3-0)-Ghost (2-1) and Serkus (2-1)-Quags (2-1). I bet no one can believe that last time Sharks owner Wanberg was undefeated through three. I don't recall that ever happening.

WEEK 2 WRAPUP

In a spirited battle for Week 2 Player of the Week, WR Boldin AZ became the first selection for rookie owner Herigodt. Boldin nipped Newt PK Longwell MIN by one point.

Week 3 begins the first round of interdivison crossover games. If the NFL goes to more games in the regular season some day, there will be even more crossover days like this one. Sweet fun.

FLAVOR OF THE WEEK: WEEK 2
In a series of furious moves RB C. Johnson TEN went to the Brawlers in the first round of free-agen transactions. Three total teams went after Johnson, who appears to be the Rookie of the Year after one week.

WEEK 1 WRAPUP

Season No. 15 has kicked off with more of the same from last season as defending champ Quags rolled to a 41-19 win over the Eggers.

Of course, the big news is the loss of the Layers' QB Brady NE. That's usually vulture meat for owners to try to swoop in and offer a QB. It will be interesting to see if the Layers go the free-agent route or make a trade.

Did you remember that the first free-agent pickups need to be filed by 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. I figured you did.

A FEW THOUGHTS ON AUCTION 2008

TEAM TO BEAT: Rookie owner Kris Herigodt of the Brawlers came out in great shape, nailing her No. 1 QB (Romo) and Nos. 2-3 RBs in Maroney and A. Peterson. She also nabbed her No. 1 PK (Folk). Ghost owner Steve Cline and I agreed that Kris will add new meaning when we all get beat by a girl.

STRANGE REQUEST: It's hard to disagree with defending champion Hurricane Quags, but Quags had Cline and me scrambling for an internet search with his bid of a WR named Avery. We didn't know who he was.

BIG DOUGH WRs: In our 15th auction, we have noticed a new trend on the NFL's reliance on two RBs per team. More and more bidders are putting big money on WRs. Some of the $ figures are staggering. Is collusion in the future for us owners?
